The system

In the production of flat tubes with very low tolerances the innovative measuring system QScan 1000 is in use all over the world.

With a scan duration of 5 sec. only and a sampling rate of 10 kHz it is excellently qualified for permanent quality monitoring and in the stock-receipt of heat exchanger in the automobile and other industries.

Equipped with an innovative measuring method and an extensive Windows-conformable analysing software the system meets highest demands in respect to measurement accuracy, comfortable handling and reliability in long-term use since many years.

Construction

The QScan 1000 consists of a robust measurement table with integrated control- and computer-systems. The measuring construction itself consists of a C-frame-system with integrated high accuracy laser displacement sensors. To avoid disturbances due to vibrations from the ground, the whole system is mounted at shock absorbers.

For measuring the tubes will be placed at specific adapted support mouldings to avoid any kind of deformation during the measurement. The scan line is marked by a separate laser line at the tube surface which simplifies the insert and positioning of winglet tubes. A special fixture for detection of the specific dimensions at hour glass profile tubes is available, thus enabling an exact measurement of the hour glass profile tubes as well in non-wedged as in wedged condition.

Measuring principle

The measuring principle is based on the laser displacement measuring and the difference method combined with a digital distance measuring. With the inclusion of a calibration block inside the system an exact 2D profile of the tube will be created. The exact width of the tube will be detected by a laser light barrier and the data from the digital distance measuring.

The calibration and the destiantion of the measuring tool capability is carried out with specifically adapted calibration blocks.

Evaluation / analysis

QScan 1000 is equipped with an own intelligent control system based upon an industrial PC system with Windows operating system and an extensive software package for evaluation and analysis like recipe records, 2D-profile display, trends, statistics and reports. The software function provides a monitoring of up to 4 processes simultaneously.

The free definition of measuring points and characteristics provides a destiantion of the crowning and of the hourglass profile. The measuring results will be evaluated in an online statistic and displayed in a table and a graphical trend plot. In addition, the results will be transmitted into a QS-system (QS-STAT) via a LAN interface.
