Range of use

The QFrame is monitoring reliably the quality control of modern production lines for highgrade flat foils and plates with limited adjustable cross-section in three shift operation, e.g.

These safe C-frame systems are robust and need extremely low-maintenance. For many years they are granting an optimum of production security and correspond with the high demands of the international tyre industry.

Precision laser-measurement heads, completely enclosed against difficult service conditions, are guaranteeing a fast and precise measurement on 2 or 3 width positions simultaneously.

The system

QFrame is consisting of a robust measuring frame with integrated roller conveyor and motor adjustable C-frames. The measuring frame is integrated directly in the production line, the roller conveyor is consisting of 5 or 7 Teflon-coated guide rollers, depending on the demand, driven by chain or own motor.

Two C-frames on the left and right are building together with the laterally mounted laser distance sensors the measuring unit. With electrical drive it can practically be positioned at every point of the material.

Due to its flexible construction the stable C-frame is available for every production line. By automatic adjustment deformations of the C-frame have no influence on the measuring accuracy.The precision lasers are protected against dust, vapours and high material temperatures by purged (by compressed air) protection hoods.

The model QFrame 300 is additionally measuring the thickness in the centre by a firmly mounted C-frame.

Measuring principle

The measuring principle is based on the laser distance measurement by differential method. One laser distance sensor each is measuring the distance to the material surface from top and bottom.

The difference between these measured values to the known absolute distance of the laser distance sensors is the material thickness. The absolute distance of the laser sensors is detected by means of laterally located calibration pieces and can be automatically checked and – if necessary - readjusted in adjustable intervals. Furthermore the centre measuring position can be checked and calibrated on the running material by comparison-measurement with the lateral C-frame of model QFrame 300.

Control and analysis

QFrame is equipped with reliable, powerful industrial computers and secure process control elements. Intelligent automatism as there are automatic laser cleaning as well as the use of robust and low-maintenance components guarantee a high level of availability of the system.

A windows-conformable system software, modular structured and user-friendly in operation, is collecting, processing, recording and archiving all order- and product-related data. It does the process control and is communicating by serial- and BUS-interfaces with the customer own QS-systems.
